Kunststiftung NRW funds outstanding projects, unique programmes and innovative concepts in the areas of music, theatre, dance, literature and the visual arts in North Rhine-Westphalia as well as interdisciplinary projects of outstanding artistic quality. This also includes funding the acquisition and safeguarding of art works and cultural artefacts of exceptional significance.
Visual artists who are up to and including 40 years of age may only submit applications under the heading “Funding/Individuals” and not under the heading “Funding/Projects”.
Kunststiftung NRW cannot fund projects whose aim is to establish or maintain data banks or to digitalize or achive material.
For a project application we require:
- A covering letter (there is no form) providing a project outline and specifying the level of funding desired
- A budget covering all costs and sources of income which details all other applications for funding and whether these have already been agreed
For applications in the field of dance, we request that four copies of project outlines, budgets and biographies of the artists are submitted (without plastic envelopes or fasteners) each with a signed covering letter. Applications should not consist of more than ten pages.
Deadlines to apply for funding next year:
- 30th June
- 30th November
The foundation must stamp the application as ‘received’ by this date.
All applications should be sent by post only to:
Applications submitted by e-mail cannot be considered.
The directorate of Kunststiftung NRW awards funding twice yearly.
Decisions on project funding for the field of dance are provided by an independent jury of experts which currently consists of:
- Kerstin Evert (Hamburg)
- Sigrid Gareis (Berlin)
- Nicole Strecker (Cologne)
